“About 100 students participated the first day. In the first 1.5 hours, 1800 people received the Falling Plates video, leading to 457 gospel conversations” - Erica, Cru Staff in Digital Evangelism
On the beaches of Panama City Beach, FL, you'll find a unique blend of Spring Breakers - families, college students, young professionals, etc. At Big Break in PCB, not only are the beaches a great place for Cru students to engage in gospel conversations, but also the web.
Because of PCB's recent ordinance banning alcohol on the beach, the number of Spring Breakers is a lot lower than years past. Though the amount of gospel conversations was about half the amount of last year, the quality of conversations was better. About the same number of people made decisions to believe in Christ as last year. You can see how many are responding to the gospel each week!
With lower numbers of people on the beach, this opened up new opportunities for evangelism.
Evangelism Goes Digital
Staff and students came out of the training time excited about sharing their faith and starting spiritual conversations through digital communication. They wanted to share more throughout the week.
One girl shared the video with her dad, who she hadn't spoken with in two years. He had shared with her that he couldn't be a good dad to her because he didn't have a dad in his life. She encouraged her dad by saying that her Heavenly Father showed her His love and how she can love others, and that he can experience the same thing. She is going to meet up with her dad next week and share the gospel with him.
One girl sent the video to 30 friends and got 29 responses, including a friend in Germany. She went through the Knowing God Personally outline with her friend online. Her friend then prayed to trust Christ! Then her friend in Germany tweeted out the link to the video and her friend prayed to trust Christ. She also has 11 appointments set up next week to talk through the gospel with other friends she started spiritual conversations with this week.
